Iodophor for me

I have used iodophor for years. “Sanitize” brewing tools and glass right before fermentation. I do rinse in hot water to eliminate any oder or taste, just to make sure. Not really autoclave sanitized. But, always limits contamination before alcohol levels are up.

Best Sanitizer

Have used star san and saniclean and this is my favorite. There's no annoying hard to get rid of foam, only requires 2 minutes of contact time, doesn't destroy your hands when dunking 50+ bottles, leaves almost no film behind when wet or dry and is almost tasteless when drinking a 1/4 teaspoon worth of a 5 gallon batch of it. (I've tasted a sip of all 3 to see what residual flavors may have been left behind...) The only draw back is I only trust it to last a couple days, whereas the other two will keep a couple weeks if you keep a lid on it, but it's advantages far outweigh a little shelf life on a mixed batch. AIH warns it can cause staining but I have never noticed any and have used a 1/2 quart worth of it so far.
