Description

The Original Barley Crusher MaltMill, the "Home Brewer's Best Friend" has proven to be just that. A high quality grain mill constructed using materials that will last a lifetime, 1018 Cold Rolled Steel for the rollers, 6061 Aluminum for the mill body and hopper, tool steel for the axles with Oil Impregnated bronze bushings.

Base easily fits a 5 gallon bucket.

Precision machining with Quality Control and a LifeTime Warranty assures the homebrewer that this will be the only grain mill they will ever purchase!

Details:

Rollers are adjustable at both ends to keep the gap spacing parallel giving a uniform crush along the entire length of the rollers.

The gap default setting is marked and set at .039 at assembly. Adjustment range is from .015 to .070 thousands of an inch.

The rollers have a 12 TPI knurl to efficiently pull the grain through the rollers while leaving the hull intact to form an excellent filter bed for sparging.

Comes with a solid base with locators to center the Barley Crusher on a 5 gallon plastic pail. (Pail not included)

The standard hopper holds an even 7 pounds and the optional large hopper holds 15 pounds. Using a 3/8 drillmotor at 500 RPM gives you a crush rate of 6 pounds a minute making the big grain bills fast and easy.

The Barley Crusher is shipped fully assembled. There are no adapters needed to use a 3/8 drill motor.

The Barley Crusher is NOT designed for cracking/milling corn

Worked great for over 6 years but not anymore.

This was a great mill for over 6 years. Recently though, it has started having significant issues pulling the grain into the rollers due to the rollers being worn. Barley Crusher’s new rollers might be made of more durable steel but I can't be sure. I brew more than the average home brewer but I'm still not anywhere near the volume of a commercial brewer. I would expect a quality grain mill to last a lifetime for someone like me. Unfortunately, I was wrong in this case.

Wont hold a gap; binds. Buyer Beware!

I bought this on order #18-506536. Approximately 1.5 years ago. I have emailed the owner of the company (BC Products, Inc) and asked for support on the statement from their website: "Lifetime Warranty assures the homebrewer that this will be the only grain mill they will ever purchase". I got back unconcerned emails directing me to change the set screws that hold the rollers in place. I have done this twice with no results. The mill will not hold a gap for more than a few pounds of grain and it binds when attached firmly to a milling table. Company owner will not replace the item despite the fact that I have my paid receipt. Do not Buy.

Good job

Hi purchased this crusher and I initially had some problems, I sent it back and they return it after adjustment. Solid machine, it works great and a very good service.

Solid crusher

I've had this one now for almost eight years and used it on around 250 5 gal batches. As someone else mentioned the rubber band broke pretty early on, but it doesn't really make any difference, I'm not sure why it was there in the first place. It has worked like a champ. I use it with a drill and other than I probably should have gotten the bigger hopper, no issues at all. I did have an issue that people should keep in mind (it wasn't the crushers fault). There was a small pebble in one sack of grain. If the crusher starts acting weird and making grinding noises that may be your problem. Once I dumped the grain out and found the pebble all was OK again. There was a small nick on one roller but it hasn't been an issue.
