The Original Barley Crusher MaltMill, the "Home Brewer's Best Friend" has proven to be just that. A high quality grain mill constructed using materials that will last a lifetime, 1018 Cold Rolled Steel for the rollers, 6061 Aluminum for the mill body and hopper, tool steel for the axles with Oil Impregnated bronze bushings.

Base easily fits a 5 gallon bucket.

Precision machining with Quality Control and a LifeTime Warranty assures the homebrewer that this will be the only grain mill they will ever purchase!

Rollers are adjustable at both ends to keep the gap spacing parallel giving a uniform crush along the entire length of the rollers.

The gap default setting is marked and set at .039 at assembly. Adjustment range is from .015 to .070 thousands of an inch.

The rollers have a 12 TPI knurl to efficiently pull the grain through the rollers while leaving the hull intact to form an excellent filter bed for sparging.

Comes with a solid base with locators to center the Barley Crusher on a 5 gallon plastic pail. (Pail not included)

The standard hopper holds an even 7 pounds and the optional large hopper holds 15 pounds. Using a 3/8 drillmotor at 500 RPM gives you a crush rate of 6 pounds a minute making the big grain bills fast and easy.

The Barley Crusher is shipped fully assembled. There are no adapters needed to use a 3/8 drill motor.

The Barley Crusher is NOT designed for cracking/milling corn

FREE SHIPPING option applies to the lower 48 States in the USA only.

Rating 2 years and ~50 10gal batches later
I bought this mill over 2 years ago, and have milled around 50 10 gallon batches worth of grain. I use a cordless drill to run it (1st gear). I've been getting amazing/scary efficiencies by conditioning the grain and running a .030 - .032 gap. Watch out for rocks! And don't forget to tear it down and clean/lube it once in a while. - Reviewed by on 4/23/2015

Works great. I just finished 16# at a 032 setting (fine) and it crushed in a few minutes using a drill. Great product and easy to use. - Reviewed by on 2/17/2015

This was a replacement for my old cast grain grinder. So far I have been very pleased with the new grain mill, it is about twice as fast and requires much less cleanup. - Reviewed by on 2/16/2015

This mill works well. I bought The Barley Crusher Mill because I was familiar with it having used one at my LHBS many times. It is made well and I expect to use this mill for a very long time. I am very satisfied with my purchase and AIH has the best price I could find. Thanks....SteveB - Reviewed by on 9/26/2014
Rating Very nice
Just what I was looking for, the mill performs great and I highly recommend. Only problem was the base broke during shipping, not the best design and material. packed it very well so not their fault but the shippers got it anyway. - Reviewed by on 8/22/2014
Rating Works great, great efficiency booster
I had always asked for crushed grains from wherever I bought them and I found my mash efficiency came out around 65%. My first time using this grain mill my mash efficiency went north of 75%. It's easily adjustable if you get a feeler gauge (very inexpensive), and I like having the control over my crush and seeing the results first-hand as I go. No last minute brew day surprises. This mill is solidly built, fits a 5 gallon bucket just right, and is a good value for the money in my opinion. - Reviewed by on 5/19/2014

Love this item, it came very quick, only had to put the handle on it and it was ready to go... it can also be cranked with drill... love this mill so far, it's so nice to be able to crush grain and have it fresh. - Reviewed by on 4/11/2014
Rating Best Investment so far!!!!
Used this mill for the first time tonight. Ready to go right out of the box. My OG's have always been 10 - 12 points low, after crushing my own grain it was 13 points HIGH!!! I never wanted to spend the money, but it is definitely worth it! - Reviewed by on 3/30/2014
Rating Great Product
I had a chance to use the grain mill and it worked great. I milled 12 pounds of grain in just a couple of minutes. The mill was delivered in perfect condition and the shipping was faster than I expected. Great Job! - Reviewed by on 3/18/2014
Rating Could Not Be More Satisfied
Just used my Barley Crusher for my first batch since I received it and I could not be more satisfied with it and the results. My local homebrew store''s crusher was not set properly and they would not dial it in any finer. So the coarse crush had dropped my mash efficiencies into the low 71-73% range. Today I hit 84.1% which is right in line with what I hit on a friends Barley Crusher. Both set at the factory settings. Yes I am happy, yes I am satisfied and will order from Adventures in Homebrewing again. - Reviewed by on 3/26/2013

Q: I need to grind freeze-dried fruits to around 1/8" or 1/4". Will this mill help?
Asked by: - 12/13/2013
A: I don't think this mill would work for fruit. The gap setting on the mill is for crushing, not grinding per se, not sure it would grab the fruit and pull it through.

Q: Can the barley mill opened to .070, mill malted corn?
Asked by: - 11/6/2013
A: The gap is adjustable to .070 thousands. We would not recommend this for milling corn. We believe .070 is not enough of a gap to to mill corn.
