Markers are not etched
I have yet to brew with it as I just received it a few weeks ago. Shipping was quick; less than a 2 week turn around. On first impression it appears strong and sturdy, and the quality of the stainless is as advertised. However, the pot does not have "etched" graduation markers as advertised; they are printed with what appears to be black ink. I also noticed that simply filling the pot with water to determine dead space, and then drying it with a towel seemed to partially remove the printed markers. Etched markers were one of the key reasons I went for this pot since I didn't want the markers to fade with time after using cleaners. As a result, I'm somewhat disappointed. I would also note that the ball valve and thermometer "bolt" into holes drilled in the kettle (there are no threaded couplers). They seal well and function as expected. The ball valve has a heavy feel to it. Looks like it will last a long time (outside of the graduation markers).
