Q: does it come with bong and spicket
A: the barrels would ship with a bung and spigot included in the cost along with the stand
Q: Are these Barrels good for me to make aged Negronis
A: this could be used for making an aged cocktail to give a oak profile to the cocktail-you would just want to keep carbonation in the barrels at a minimum to limit leakage
Q: Can this barrel be safely filled with a beer such as (Molson Canadian) or would the carbonation pose a problem? /Could you fill it entirely
A: The barrel can be completely filled without issue. Carbonated beer will foam causing issues with mess, possible pressure in the barrel that could lead to leaks as the co2 escaped from the beer, and would eventually let the beer go flat as well. It can potentially be done, but would highly advise against it
Q: Im looking to age some tequila in this. Im looking for something that is not charred because I want the final product to still be clear. Will this item work for me?
A: This barrel has a #3 char. It will add some color to your product so it might not be what you are looking for. Unfortunately, all of the barrels we currently have available are chared.
Q: were can I get a plug for the top of my 3 liter wine barrel?
A: we do sell a number of different Tapered corks, or rubberized stoppers that would work for this purpose. Checking the diameter of the opening on the barrel would be the best bet to verify which of those products would be suit the opening on your barrel specifically
Q: I am interested in one of the barrels but can you tell me if there is and option to have the outside of the barrel raw unfinished wood?.
A: The manufacturer currently only produces these with the light varnish finish on the outside
Q: I'm thinking of getting this as a gift. What whiskey would you pair with it?
A: This would be up to the persons profile drinking it. these barrels do have a char on the inside but the whiskey profile you choose will effect the finished outcome. I would recommend a lighter bodied medium to light oak profile whiskey as this will allow more of the essence of the barrel here to show through.
Q: I am looking for a dispensing system to serve " Black Box " wine from to make it look a little more classy. Would these kegs be appropriate for that use ? Thanks
A: You can use these barrels to dispense. I would recommend priming them first otherwise they may leak. You can prime them by filling them with sterilized water and letting them sit for 24 hours.
Q: I was given a 3 liter barrel for 12/15 and put some spirits in it .
went to take them out spigot (big part)split when I took it out of keg the rubber? seal was messed up
do you sell spigot and seals for it? if so please let me know price and address so I can get one thank you very much
A: There should not have been any synthetic seals on the barrel. These barrels are all sealed by pressure from swelling and beeswax as needed.
For replacement parts got to http://deepsouthbarrels.com/create/Accessories?c=234213
You should see the spigot the you need.
Q: Are they coated (outside) and does anything need to be done to them before spirits are added to age?
No Answers have been submitted yet.
Q: Can cask condition "real ale" in these?
A: Unfortunately the spigot in this unit was not designed to handle those types of pressures, I would look into purchasing a Firkin or true cask.
Q: Can this barrel hold a beer without blowing?
A: You can use this barrel to store beer, but it should be used with fermented beer. You shouldn't ferment in this barrel.
