Q: Have you resolved the leaking connectors that so many reviews are mentioning as a big problem with this chiller?
A: this has only been an isolated amount of chillers that was an easy fix to resolve but have not had any recent feedback on this issue
I am looking into buying 4 of your 50', 1/2'' wort chillers. I would like to have them shipped to The Netherlands. Is that possible and how long should I expect shipping to take? 1 week? 2 weeks? 4 weeks?
A: Arrival timeline through UPS looks to be estimated at 5-7 business days. This would not include customs clearance times before final delivery would be made
Q: What is pressure rating? Can it be rolled out and retooled after use?
A: The fittings can tolerate 40psi standard garden hose pressure from a spigot. They are a somewhat softer copper but unrolling and re-coiling may result in crimping of the tubing and is not recommended
Q: How high is the coil?
A: When compressed the coil stands 10" but it can be expanded to make better wort contact on larger batches
Q: How do you sanitize this before use? I am guessing you soak it in another vessel containing sanitizing solution?
A: The easiest way to sanitize a wort chiller is to place it in the boiling wort 5 minutes prior to chilling. The hot wort will sanitize the unit. Thanks for the question!
Q: Can this be heated on a propane grill with water running thruvit?
A: While the these are build for cold water heat exchanged, and designed for brewing purposed only. The copper should be able to be heated, but will experienced quite a bit of discoloration when applied to an open flame
Q: Maybe a strange question.... could you also immerse this in boiling water and pass water through this to heat it?
A: Yes, the copper is conductive and will transfer wither cold or hot temps to the surrounding liquid.
Q: What is the inside diameter of the tubing?
A: Just a bit under 1/2".
Q: What is the length of the coil from top to bottom?
A: The coil is approximately 11" tall.
Q: Is this 1/2 ID or OD ?
Q: Are the Garden hose fittings detachable?
A: These are compression fittings so they are removable if need be.
