Q: Why is this priced nearly $100 more than the manufacturer sells it (including their free shipping)?
A: Anvil and Blichmann items cost is MAP that we have to follow. We will review the information with the vendor/manufacturer to double-check any recent changes to the MAP price and will update accordingly
Q: what is the exact width at the bottom, not including the spigot?
A: the fermenter at its widest is 16.5"/ This is the only diameter spec listed from the manufacturer
Q: During the fermentation stage is there a strong smell?
A: This will vary from batch to batch as the ingredients and yeast used will vary the amount of off-gassing through the airlock. This would be common with any fermentation vessel
Q: Can you install a grommet and blowoff tube ? I make a porter that has a super high Krausen.
A: The bucket lid takes a bung with a 3/8": opening for an airlock. The airlock can be substituted with a piece of tubing to provide an opportunity for a blow off if needed
Q: Can this be used for fermenting wine? I assume so, but much of what i see/read seems to speak to beer. Thanks!
A: This can be used for Beer, Wine or cider!
Q: The specs say this 7.5 gallon Anvil fermentor is 19.75" tall but when someone asked above how tall this is, Lauren Acton replied that it is 14" tall. My question is: how tall is this bucket with the lid attached but w/o blow-off or airlock. My fermentation fridge is 20.25" floor to ceiling.
A: 14" would be the height for the 4 gallon posted here by mistake:
Width (Handle to Handle) - 16.5"
Length (to Dip Tube) - 15.25"
Height (Top of Lid) - 19.75"
Height (Top of Airlock & Stopper) - 26"
Recommended Batch Size - 5 Gallons
Gross Capacity - 7.5 Gallons
Q: Does the lid have a cleanable/replaceable gasket?
A: The lid does have a food grade rubberized gasket that can be cleaned and sanitized or replaced down the road if needed
Q: Do you still have this available?
A: This item is available however it ships from the vendor.
Q: Do you sell any replacement lids for this fermenter? Anvil has some on their website but would prefer to order from you guys.
A: We can definitely help with this! Just contact us at [email protected] with your zip code and we can definitely reach out to our vendor.
Q: How big is the hole in the lid?
A: Just big enough for an airlock,1/2"
Q: What size tubing would fit the barb in the bulk head?
A: this should be a 1/2" ID tubing needed for the barb
Q: Do you offer a discount for belonging to a home brew club? Also, is there a birthday coupon?
A: We do nto currently honor club or other discounts that ae ot part of our sitewide discounts and promotions. Anvil is a product line that the manufactuerer has MAP pricing on that we aren ot bale to discount further unless offered by the manufacturer directly to keep fair market pricing on their items for all of their retailers
Q: Do you know the weight of the anvil 7.5g brew bucket? Cheers
A: The weight is 13 pounds.
Is this item available for delivery yet or is it still on backorder.
A: The vendor is currently processing shipments for the units at this time(Aug 2018)
Q: What’s gage stainless is. This?
A: the thickness should be 18gauge and the material type is 304
Q: Can this handle pressurized transfers?
A: YEs, this could be used for low pressure transferring
Q: Does the stopper in the top of the lid have enough room for blow off tube and a thermowell insert?
A: The stopper is slightly larger than a #7 drilled bung used on a Carboy. The driller 3/8" opening on it is intended for a stem on an airlock but could be used with a blow off tube, or have a 2nd hole drilled if needed for a thermowell
Q: what is the diameter of the base?
A: 12" in diameter without the base
Q: I want to use this for a no chill brewing fermentation vessel. Is the washer on the inside of the valve assembly high heat teflon?
A: The washes are high temp and should be able to handle the warmer wort
Q: Is it possible to add a stirrer to this tank?
Can the air lock be replaced with a pressure guage?
A: The opening on the top is just sealed off with a bung so a pressure gauge would not be abel to be attached easily to the top without the pressure pushing the fitting off. The manufacturer does not currently provide a stirring rod for the product so this would need to be dnoe third party and would voide any warranty ont he product due to the modification
