Fair pilsner, not amazing, but nice and simple

I bought a couple of these kits during a sale last year. I mostly use dry yeast, and they recommend Safale US-05, which is odd, because when I think pilsner, I think lager, not ale.

First kit I used US-05, it turned out fine, but didn't really have the crisp, clean lager flavor I was looking for.

I currently do not have the ability to get lager temperatures. After research, I found some people using Saflager 34/70 dry German lager yeast (from Weihenstephan brewery) successfully at room temperature. One brewer claimed he fermented in the high 60s degrees F and won best of show.

Knowing this, I used 34/70 with the second kit and fermented at room temperature in the 70s for about 3 weeks.

I just kegged it and am having it now. Flavor is greener than Kermit at the moment, but it is very light, a touch sweet, some floral, and has some lager characteristics. I suspect it will smooth out as it lagers in the keg over the next few weeks.

This is not the best pilsner kit I've ever had, but it is overall fair, a good, easy drinking, warm weather, backyard session beer.
