Great value

This kit has been everything I wanted. I had a pot, so I wanted an economical kit to try my hand at brewing. Everything has worked great and I will be bottling this weekend. The chocolate stout kit AIH included smells amazing and I will be counting the days till I try it. The only negative (and I wont even take a star for it) I have is the directions. They are not as clear as some of the the other "competitors" instruction sheets. However just read them beforehand and google any questions you have. Nothing about it is the least bit difficult.

Everything you need, nothing you don't

This kit has worked perfectly for me. Everything in the kit has been needed and used, and I have not needed to purchase additional equipment.

Everything you need

Supplies all the basics you need to get started for a reasonable price. Everything was good quality. What I loved most was the option to choose which beer came with the kit. Every other kit out there was offering some kind of amber Ale or something else I wouldn't drink. Being able to choose a Stout is what made me choose this kit over all the others, and I'm glad I did. AIH is great to work with, and their prices are excellent.

Works Great!

This Beginning Homebrew Kit works great. It doesn't come with a thermometer (which you will need) or brew pot so I added those on and that's all the equipment needed to start making homebrew. I live in a small apartment so didn't want the bigger kit due to space limitations but can always add more equipment as needed (I'll probably get a carboy eventually). I highly recommend this for someone who wants to start a new hobby and homebrew your own beer!

Great Starting Point

This is the right way to start a new hobby! Everything you need is there. You just need to add a good Sanitizer and you are done! (I also bought a Long Stem Thermometer... I knew I'd need it after an unsuccessful attempt with a 1 Gallon Kit Xmas present). I bought my kit with an American Pale Ale that I just bottled yesterday... looking very, very promising! An AIH home run... btw, support is great!!!

Really Pleased

I've been really pleased with all my experiences so far. The kit worked well (still fermenting so hopefully tastes good too!) Also the customer service has been amazing. I've called a few times with basic questions and everyone has been really knowledgeable, friendly and down to earth.

Great way to start

I have been impressed with quality/completeness of this kit. All you need to add is an ingredients kit and a pot. I buy these for new brewers in our club.

Great Product

I bought the beginner kit to brew my first batch of beer and it had everything I needed and it made it very easy as a first timer. I will be using it to brew again soon!

A: The ingredients will vary based on the type of beer you choose for the free recipe but will include steeping grains, malt extract, hops and a yeast packet to use on the batch

Q: What is the approximate alcohol percentage per recipe? Are they all the same or do they vary? I'm particularly interested in the chocolate stout!

A: Hi there, every recipe varies. The recipes offered with these kit are usually between 4 and 6% alcohol. The chocolate stout should be about 4.3% alcohol. Thanks!

Q: Can you use both all grain and extract recipes in this kit? If not, what kit/add-on will allow me to do all grain?

A: This is a basic starter kit geared for extract brewing. For all grain you definitely need a bit more equipment. Check out Upgrade #7 (Item #99-3491), this might be closer to what you're looking for.

A: Sanitizer would be included in the hardware portion of the kit, so it would not need to be added to this product. If you would like to order additional it can be found in the brewing Equipment tab under sanitizers and cleaners

A: You can use a no rinse one step cleanser to clean and sanitize all of your equipment ( Item Number 24-6019# ), though this kit only comes with a small package.

Q: How long (how many days) does it take to brew a batch with this beginner kit?

A: Most extract batches would be finished fermenting/clearing in a couple weeks, and then ready to bottle (which takes 2-3 weeks to properly bottle condition). You will need a brew pot, heat source, bottles, caps, cleaner/sanitizer, and a recipe along with this kit to properly brew a batch of beer.

A: You will need a brew pot to complete any extract or all grain brew recipe you choose to brew, other than some pre-hopped extract recipes out of a can. I apologize for the confusion.
