Great Beer Recipe
5 Star Recipe. I tried 10 gal., batched together, then split into two 5gal ferm. buckets, with a Safale US-05 in one and Safbrew WB-06 in the other. Safale US-05 is American Ale strain which produces well-balanced beers with low diacetyl and a very clean, crisp palate. Safale WB-06 produces estery and phenol notes typical of Bavarian-style wheat beers. Was fun to compare the two in flavor. Both were amazing, but, like other reviewers have said, the Safale US-05 produces something closer to the flavor of Blue Moon you buy.

Great recipe
I've brewed >10 of these 5 gallon all grain recipes. It's a great base recipe for a wheat beer that you can modify to suit your tastes. If you are looking for a true Blue Moon clone I would not use a whit-beer or Belgian style yeast. There is an interesting article on homebrewtalk where a former brewmaster for Coors discussed it's creation at the Sandlot Brewery. They purposely used a chico strain yeast to get a clean ferment without the traditional whit estery taste. If you like that style go for it. I've been using a chico (Safale US-05) strain with excellent success as it has a broad appeal when I'm serving guests in my home, plus its dry and requires no starter and 1pkg=plenty to do a 5 gal batch *I was concerned the coriander qty seemed a bit high. It's not. *I do add additional orange marmalade (net is 1.5x what recipe calls for) to get the ratio of Orange/Coriander to be what I like *Candi Sugar crystals - used to be a pain in the backside trying to dissolve. 5-10 mins before boil ends use some of the boiling wort in a bowl or put candi in muslin bag and clip to pot. Dissolves so much easier *If you care about clarity - I used to filter which wasted beer, CO2 and was messy. Now I use a whirlfloc tablet or irish moss does help near end of boil and unflavored gelatin when I rack to keg. Beer is crystal clear. So if you like wheat beer give this a go. This is permanently on tap at my house for a reason!

Blue Moon Clone
First of all, the price is hard to beat for an all grain kit. I have been brewing for some time. I have good equipment (most of it came from AIH), but I found this brew to be overwhelming with the orange marmalade and underwhelming with the Belgian spice additions. It had the right color, it was slightly cloudy, the IBU's were right, but it was missing something. It could have been something I did as well, I found the instructions to be a little confusing.

I want more!
Got this kit so I could compare it to the original and I was craving a Wheat beer. Truth be told, I'm not even that big of a fan of Blue Moon. However, this came out perfect, and as others have said, tastes better than the real thing. Great color, wonderful aroma, and super smooth mouthfeel. I will definitely be getting this again. Kudos to the person who put this recipe together.

A really good kit / result
Made this and fermented for 17 days. Kegged and I must say as a Blue Moon fan, this is a great recipe! Even my friends have commented it might be better than the original! I plan to keep this baby on tap at all times!

Better than the original
My son and I have tried a number of the clone kits and by far the best of the bunch is the Blue Moon clone. It's better than the original. I'll be reordering this kit.

Better than Blue Moon
Mine came out better than blue moon, with lots of raves from friends. I did add some fresh grated orange peel, then squeezed the peeled orange and threw in at last few mins of boil. Same wheat, hazy color with a nice white head. Taste of blue moon with lots of extra orange. Will brew again, maybe with more hops.

Very, Very good
I have brewed many blue moon clones, with some luck. So when I was looking for a new boil pot I stumbled onto the Blue Moon clone recipe offered by Adventures in Homebrewing. I decided to give it a try and I am very pleased. In fact the more I drink it the happier I am with it. Maybe the only criticism I would give is maybe it should have just a little more citrus flavor in it. I would recommend it to other brewers that enjoy Blue Moon Beer.

I am unfamiliar with how I should add the adjuncts and when. I saw that I should add the Candi Sugar at about 2 minutes or so, but what about the Coriander, Marmalade, and Orange Peel. Do I add them to the boil and, if so, at what time? Do I add them using muslin bags or just dump them in?

There are different approaches to extract flavors. One suggestion would be, in order to maximize full flavor of the coriander, is to add it at the beginning of the boil, then add the orange peel and marmalade at the 50 minute mark (i.e. 10 minutes of boil left) to preserve its flavor but provide sufficient time to sanitize. A muslin bag isn't necessary.

This recipe benefits from the characteristics of the liquid yeast due to the fact that it is a belgian style. If dry yeast is needed I would recommend safbrew BE-256, an abbey yeast

The candy sugar is added the last couple minutes of the boil typically, this is not priming sugar. You can also wait until fermentation has started to slow in your primary and add your candi sugar then to continue a steady fermentation. Priming sugar is added during the bottling process.
