Q: What is the expiration date on your Brewers Best Orange Shandy?
A: At this time the product is out of stock so the next run received in for the seasonal will be fresh stock from the manufacturer
Q: Can DME be used in place or the corn sugar?
A: Sure thing! This would add an interesting flavor profile and depth to the batch.
Q: Can I make just 1/2 of it 2.5 gallons instead of 5? How much water is needed in initial boil?
A: This is actually a no-boil brewing kit, that just needs to be reconstitued with water in the fermente. You can split the batch but duplicating it in 2 2.5 gallon caontainers might leave each batch a bit different as it would be tought o balance out the amout of the concentrate properly, and storage once opened cuts the shelf life of the kit drastically
Q: How much do the orange and grapefruit kits make? What type of equipment is needed to brew?
A: The Kit produces a 5 gallon kit
Q: Made this kit as directed. Very strong orange peel flavoring. Is this normal? How do you control that particular taste? If you didn't want it as pronounced?
A: The kits are designed to have a pretty produced flavor profile to match up with the commercial shandys on the market. The batch can be blended with a lighter pale ale to reduce the flavor but would need to be produced as is to begin with to balance the mouth feel and gravity properly
Q: Is the extra 2 lbs of corn sugar required to hit the suggested gravity?
A: Yes, the manufacturer recommends its use for a fuller body and flavor to the batch. It is not required for a good finished product bust does aid in the flavor and mouth feel
Q: How many gallons does this recipe yield?
A: All Brewers BEst recipes will make a 5 gallon batch unless otherwise noted in the product description
Q: Is this an all grain kit? How many gallons does it brew?
A: This is an Extract recipe that yields 5 gallons
Q: My kit did not come with a sweetener sachet listed on the contents page. Already opened kit so I need to make it. Is not having that a huge deal or can I add something in later in the fermentation?
A: The sweetener sachet has already been mixed in with the yeast, for ease of use.
Q: Is this recipient close to Blue Moon?
A: This recipe would be closer to a Leinenkugel Shandy. It should have more orange flavor, and be slightly sweeter than Blue Moon
