Description

This stainless steel carb cap features pop bottle threads allowing to force carbonate in PET bottles. The ball lock fitting is compatible with both gas and liquid ball lock disconnects. This carbonation cap will help carbonate your favorite beverages quickly and inexpensively. Fill up a PET bottle with your chilled beer, cider, seltzer, mead, or anything you would like carbonated.

These stainless steel carbonation caps also work great for draft line cleaning. The inner barb attaches to 3/16" or 1/4" ID tubing. No pump? No problem, simply fill a PET bottle with your preferred cleaner, attach the cap, connect the beverage line and squeeze the bottle to push the cleaner through the lines and out the faucet. Don't forget to place an old fermentor bucket below the faucet for the cleaner to drain into.

Instructions:

  1. Fill PET bottle with beverage, leaving 2" headspace.
  2. Attach carb cap loose and squeeze bottle till liquid reaches the top, then tighten.
  3. Inject CO2, disconnect CO2, shake vigorously.
  4. Repeat step 3 until the PET bottle remains hard.
  5. Refrigerate for a few hours - repeat step 3 if carbonation is low still.

Features:

  • Stainless Steel
  • Liquid and Gas Ball Lock Compatible
  • Barbed fitting inside

Tips:

  • Chill liquid ahead of time - CO2 requires liquids to be refrigerator cold for carbonation.
  • Do not use more than 30psi when injecting.
  • Do not use with old worn out bottles - always check the conditions before use.
  • Always use safety goggles.
  • Remove carb cap slowly, pressure could be built up.

Better Than Plastic

These stainless steel caps are vastly superior to the plastic variety. The smooth, continuous threads are very well suited for use with those recycled 2 liter seltzer bottles with flimsy threads. The rubber gaskets ensure a very tight seal that greatly reduces leakage when shaking the bottles by hand. And they can be easily tightened by hand without using a wrench. This is highly recommended from someone with 12 years experience using this technique.

Works great

I used it to fill plastic bottles with homemade beer.

Screws on well but poppet is finicky and leaks

The poppet is fussy and leaks pressure if you don't poke at it repeatedly to get it to sit right. I've had this product for a few years.

Ok but not the best

I ordered 6 of these and they work ok, but I have used others that were much better but cost as much as $16 each. I use them to transport beer samples to accounts for tasting, they allow me to keep appropriate carbonation levels between each stop. I've had others work better and worse than these. The issue is always with the poppet and seal inside, they don't always seat/seal and will leak the gas out (and beer if on its side). Sometimes you can push/pick at it to get it to seal but not before you lose most of the pressure. Just looking at the poppet you can see it's been ground to fit (rather than machined). The one I paid $16 for was much nicer and seals every time, not just 60% of the time. In this case it seems you get what you pay for. I thought I had bought the nicer ones from these guys, but maybe they got a new manufacturer.

Stainless or Plastic

Get the stainless, I have both but thinking of buying another one of these and throwing the plastic one in the recycle. There really is no comparison, get the stainless.
