The Carboy Heater

The Carboy Heater is a small heating wrap that is stuck directly to the fermenter to increase heat by 5-20° F. This heat wrap distributes 32 watts of heat over an area of 2 square feet for a very gentle heat. Use electrical tape (recommended) to adhere to your carboy, plastic fermenter, or even your conical! For ultimate control of your fermentation temperature, use in conjunction with a stopper thermowell and digital thermostat.

Serves its purpose
First off, I would like to share my appreciation to the seller. It was refreshing not to get hounded to leave a review while the product was still in the mail. AiH waited long enough for me to actually have time to use this term heater which, as we know in the homebrewing world, can be quite some time. I bought this wrap heater as the heat side of my itc-1000 fermentation chamber build. I have yet to ferment anything in the chamber but I did fill a carboy full of water and set the temp about 10f over ambient and it did a wonderful job slowly bringing the water to temp. I was happy to see that it didn't heat too fast but did a very good job keeping temp when combined with the controller. Also, I got this thing for a steal around Christmas time. More than worth the $10 plus shipping! I look forward to shopping with AiH in the future.

Works Great
I have brewed three batches since receiving this heater. It has worked perfect to maintain consistent temperatures throughout the fermentation. The current brew is a lager and together with the keezer, the temp has been within .5 degrees of target for entire fermentation. I have not had any issues with the product. It does exactly what I expected it to do.

Perfect
These are great heaters, well worth it. I like the fact these spread the heat across a large surface area vs the band heater styles. I use an inkbird controller with long stainless probe vs using a thermowell and standard probe. 4 pieces of electrical tape are all you need to attach them, I wrap an old thermal shirt over that and set the temperature and I'm done. It literally can't be easier. I have 3, the one improvement they could make is to provide some sort of strain relief for the cord set but I'm careful with mine so do not have an issue. I am going to tape a 3/16" dowel to one and use that to provide a strain relief and see how I like that.

Works great in my basement
My basement sits at about 54F during the winter months, so I needed something to bring fermentation temps up on my buckets. This wrap keeps the temp up around 68 without any issues. I've got it plugged into an ITC-308 with the probe taped/insulated to the side of an 8 gallon bucket. The temp differential is about 2 degrees, so I have it set slightly lower. After a few days of testing I haven't noticed any overshoot and as soon as the bucket cools to my temp set point it kicks on and doesn't fall below my desired temp.

Love it!
Opened the box and thought they had sent me the replacement cover for a Trapper Keeper. Skeptically applied it to a carboy with electric tape, praying to St. Gambrinus that it did not matter which side need to be facing the carboy. Plugged it into my Johnson (temp control, that is) set it to 68 (beer was at 63, at least I hope it's beer at this point). Woke up this morning and it was at 68. I love this thing.

Solid heater for the price!
I decided to do a temperature test with this guy rather than crossing my fingers and entrusting it with some wort or must. My basement ambient temperature is 61F. I put 4 gallons of water in a bucket with a thermometer probe, put a lid on, wrapped the heater with a bungee, put the bucket on a carpet scrap square, and then wrapped the bucket-heater with a cheap fleece throw. Over the course of 3 hours, it brought the water temperature up to 80F (I don't think it would have gotten much hotter). Add in a temperature controller and this is a boon for chilly basements! This thing is like a plastic sheet, imagine the cover of a soft binder. The connections are held in place with some kind of silicon/epoxy rather than a more sturdy connection. I guess I'll have to report back after this has seen more use as to the longevity.

Works Great, even better with mods
Heater works very well. Paired it with a temperature controller and wrapped everything in a large towel and the heater is keeping my peach raspberry cider at a consistant 70° in my guest bathroom, which stays around 50°. The heater is having no problem keeping the temp 20° degrees above ambient temp. I imagine the towel helps.

Works well
Using this on fermentation bucket not a carboy. It's held the temperature nicely at 74 degrees with my home built controller. Doesn't feel warm to the touch at all.

Works Great!
I picked this up for $10 on Black Friday or Cyber Monday and it works great with my STC1000 controller in my mini-fridge. It doesn't even seem warm to the touch but it works!
