Q: I ordered a pound of this Cascade last week and it stated the alpha acids were between 5.5 - 9%, which is typical. The bag I received had an alpha acids percentage of 3.5%, much lower than advertised and may not perform in the recipes as expected. Should I have received more to equal the intended a.a.% or was this a mistake?
A: The Alpha acid range will vary from crop season to crop season and supplier to supplier. While the typical range is 5.5-9% this can exceed this total in some cases or be below it in others. The current lot of cascase(June 2018) being sourced will be in the 3.5-4% range for wehat is being shipped at this time.
