Q: I’ve never used a gas check valve before. I assume it just screws on to the gas connect. Does it also allow me to shake my keg with the gas hooked up and prevent liquid from getting into the gas line? If not what is the advantage?
A: The check valve would thread onto the gas disconnect before the tubing is thread into place. This provides a 1 way valve that the co2 moves past into the keg, but would not allow backward flow of gas or liquid into the lines which can cause mold buildup if left unchecked and damage regulator parts if the fluid makes it that far into the lines. The keg can still be shook or moved to help with carbonation with the check valve in place
