Turn your kitchen into a cheesemaking paradise with this Fresh Cheese Starter Culture. This is an aromatic, mesophilic based starter culture that can be used to make a variety of delicious cheese. Begin crafting your own cottage cheese, neufchatels, chevres and even more soft cheeses. This culture can also be used for more flavorful aged cheese such as bleu cheese and baby swiss. This Fresh Cheese Starter Culture includes 8 direct-set starter cultures to begin making fresh cheeses. These cultures are one-time-use only and cannot be recultured. Cultures are easy to use, and require almost no maintenance or care. Store in your freezer until ready to use and culture at room temperature (72-77 F). Direct-set cultures contain both starter culture and rennet.
Instruction and Ingredient Info:
To Use: Use as directed by your recipe or try combining 1 packet of Fresh Cheese Starter per gallon of milk, 2 packets per 2-4 gallons, or 4 packets per 5-10 gallons. For best results, avoid using ultra-pasteurized or UHT milk. Heat milk and cultures according to temperatures as detailed in your recipe.
