(Sufficient For Up To 75 Gallons Of Wine)

Bentonite is a clay that has the unique ability to remove, fine, undesirable particles from a finished wine in a very short period of time, making the wine clearer, more stable, and drinkable sooner. Also, reduces off-flavors, oxidation (browning) and post-bottling settlings. It does so by collecting and dragging these problem particles to the bottom with electrostatic attraction and hydrogen bonding.

Making Bentonite Slurry:

Mix 3 tablespoons of Bentonite with 1 pint of boiling water in a blender. Turn blender on high for 3 minutes. Then let mixture stand for 20 minutes. Slurry is now ready.

If No Blender Is Available:

Mix 3 tablespoons of Bentonite with 1 pint of boiling water in a sauce pan. Allow to cool. Then put in a wine bottle or similar. Shake for 10 minutes. Let stand over-night. Shake again before using.

Using Bentonite Slurry:

Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of slurry for each gallon of wine. Stir vigorously while adding slurry. Continue stirring periodically for 30 minutes. Let wine stand until clear. Siphon off sediment. It is now ready to bottle. More slurry may be necessary. Up to 4 tablespoons per gallon can be used.
