Dry Hopping Tube for Carboy

This thin, elongated 400 micron stainless steel mesh tube is perfect for dry-hopping in a glass carboy. Designed for secondary carboy dry-hopping, this tube features two removable food grade plastic stopper caps that make clean up easy. It is NOT recommended to use more than 2.5 ozs. of hop pellets or 2 ozs. of coffee beans because they swell inside the tube.

Total disappointment
If you enjoy digging solidified concrete out of a tiny tube then this is the product for you. It is unquestionably the worst possible investment I have ever made in my home brewing equipment. This was a $15 mistake and unfortunately I was fool enough to buy two of them. Claims to hold two ounces of hop pellets, but if 1-oz plugged at solid I'd hate to see what two ounces would do. Don't waste your money.

Not Worth It
Like other reviewers, I found that you can't use more than 1 oz of pellet hops in this tube. Any more than this and the pellets swell so tight in the tube that there is no liquid flow through them (so no hops flavor is imparted), and it is almost impossible to get them out of the tube afterwards.

Great Idea but Mixed Results
Got this to try to screen out the hop debris I was getting using Muslin bags to dry hop. Put in about 2 oz of hop pellets. It did a great job keeping the hop pellet trub out of the keg, but 2 ozs of dry hops expanded, compressed, and filled the whole tube up limiting the actual diffusion of hop oils into the keg and was beyond a pain to get out of the tube to clean it. If you dry hop with pellets, I recommend 1 oz max. Next time I use it, I will use leaf and see if I get better results. Also, it sinks so if you want to retrieve it while the keg is still full, you better tie some waxed dental floss (unflavored) to it and run an end out the keg lid (does not interfere with the seal).
