Dunkel Rye, Son! Recipe Kit

why were there no brewing instructions

I brewed this as an ale, using dry yeast which took off immediately when added to the carboy. It turned out dark and malty, with only a hint of rye flavor according to my palate. I had some leftover Mittelfruh hops that I added to the keg, which improved the flavor in my opinion. I wasn't able to taste much of a toasted flavor, that was probably the only disappointment. Another easy recipe to make.

I purchased the kit on sale and decided to experiment with yeast. I used Mangrove Jack's Newcastle Dark Ale yeast. What I got was a deliciously rich, malty brew with a nice rye accent. Maybe non-traditional, but it's hard to argue with taste. You won't be disappointed with this kit.

Your products are great. The Dunkel Rye, Son is one of my new favorite beers. It combines everything I love into one beer. The fruity clove & banana esters, the rich, dark maltiness, and the sweetness of the wheat. Thanks AIH.
