Q: Can this be used as a sanitizer for corona virus protection
A: Iodaphor or the iodine based sanitizers are the only CDC recommended type of product that could potentially work. Easy Clean similar to OxyClean without the detergent, will sanitize as well, just without the CDC's recommendation or backing at this time
Q: Can this be used to clean beer lines?
A: While it is not as effective is the Beer Line Cleaner provided by Five Star Chemicals or using a more abrasive sanitizer like Star San, it can be used to flush lines
Q: Is it safe to use on 304 stainless steel?
A: Yes, It is oxygen based but should be able to be safely used on 304
Q: Can i use this easy clean with an alluminium pot?
A: It is not recommended for use with aluminium. the oxygen in the product can react with the kettle causing oxidation that can pass flavor into the beer if the kettle is not pacivated after each cleaning.
Q: is this safe to use on copper?
A: The peroxide in the sanitizer is generally an oxidizer so you make notice some darkening of the copper itself, but we have not tested this to confirm.
Q: newby question I am making wine and using easy clean, I have seen other people using easy clean and then Metabisulphite is this second step necessary? Thank you
A: Easy clean will act as a sanitizer so a wash with metabisulfite would be accomplishing the safe thing, there is no harm in it but would essentially be double work. Metabisulfite is used in the must of wine, to inhibit wild yeast and bacterial growth in the must, and is still recomended per your recipes instructions
Q: Does this work like PBW? I have a manifold where I cycle heated PBW for about an hour through it and my pumps? Does it work better at a higher Temperature or just mix with Tap Water?
A: In terms or how the powder dissolves, this will work very similar to PBW and will need warmer water to fully dissolve the powdered crystals. This uses a peroxide solution to sanitize, and will not be as potent of a cleaner as PBW.
Q: I mixed up a batch a few days ago in a gallon jug. Whats the life expectancy? Also I noticed there is no foaming, is this normal? I usually use Starsan, but wanted to try this out.
A: Yes this doesn't foam like StarSan, nor does it last as long. One step cleaners like Easy Clean shouldn't be stored, and should just be used for the brew day.
Q: What's the difference between Easy Clean and Oxygen Brewery Wash? Are they different labels for the same type of cleaner?
A: Easy Clean is marketed as an all in one cleaner/sanitizer, while Oxygen Brewery Wash is a cleaner only.
Q: If I prepare a solution with Easy Clean, how long can I keep it and reuse it?
A: A batch of easy clean will only be good for one use or brew day, it is not reusable. If you are looking for a reusable sanitizer you will need to look at using star-san, which can be reused several times.
Q: Is the Easy Clean a sanitizer? To be used like Star San? Put in a spray bottle and inside the keg or carboy prior to filing with beer and no rinse?
A: Yes, Easy Clean is a sanitizer and like Star San and Iodophor, need a couple minutes contact and do not need rinsed after using.
