Q: Are the barrels chard?
A: the barrels are charred on the inside to a level 3 char and we do not currently offer a military discount at this time
Q: Can a spigot be added?
A: we dont currently have a specific sigot for the barrels to apply them at this time. It is plausible to add a spigot if needed by the end user but would require you to source the spigot and drill an opening
Q: Typically how long do you age a beer?
A: This will vary a bit depending on the style and how much of the barrel profile the end user is in need of. The flavor of the barrel will begin to pick up within a week or so but would not be uncommon for certain recipes to be left in for a few months
Q: How do the new and used 5 and 10 gallon barrels com packaged? Arr they packed in a shipping box or are they just the barrel with shipping label attached?
A: The barrels will come packages in a shipping carton with packaging materials surrounding the barrel inside
Q: Do you do any specialty branding on the barrels?
A: We do not currently offer custom stamps or branding at this time
Q: Where is the barrel made?
A: The barrels use American oak, coopered in Mexico and are sourced fro Balcones distillings unused barrel stock at this time
Q: Is the inside of the barrels charred.
A: These are charred to a level 3 char on the inside
Q: What is the toast on the barrel?
Q: I put this in my cart for pickup at the store but It still keeps charging me for shipping. is this correct or am I doing it wrong? thanks.
A: The barrels should be available for pickup in the stores. If the option is not being shown in the cart, and you are using a Michigan zip code for the shipping address you are entering, give us a call at 313-277-2739 Ext 1 for sales and service and we can lend a hand with the order from there
Q: Do you make or have a stand or cradle for this 5 gallon barrel ?
A: We do not currently have spare stands available at this time
Q: How long is the wait list typically?
A: The barrels in 5 gallon size only come up from time to time so we do not have a ETA to provide for the return of stock on this item
Q: What are the dimensions of these barrels? Thanks Jim
A: approximately Dimensions are 21Lx16Wx17H
Q: I have beer aging in the barrel right now. When I went to siphon with the mini auto-siphon it would not fit in through the bung hole. Any idea how to get my beer out of the barrel?
A: auto siphons are typically a bit large for the barrel opening. Using a standard racking cane, or just siphon tubing to perform a traditional siphon would be the best bet
Q: I asked how many uses for cider. Your answer was, "The amount of uses will depend on the product being used on the inside." Well, I specifically said cider and you didn't answer.
A: Correct. The amount of flavor potential this will provide to each batch will vary based on the viscosity, ABV and a few other factors. The barrel can be used indefinitely to hold Cider beer or wine, but the flavor profile will diminish over time for how much it will provide to the given batch, but unfortunately can't put a solid number on them for a few different reasons mesntion above
Q: Does your 5 gallon barrel come with tap and bung
A: These barrels will have a wooden place holder bung hammered in by the distiller to close the bung opening but would not contain a spigot or tap at this time
