Q: I'm now on day 12 of primary, airlock stopped bubbling 4-5 days ago (started about 36 hours after racking to primary), SG is ~1.017 (OG was right on point), so a little ways to go still, but I'm tasting some fairly strong malty sweetness in the sample I grabbed. Am curious if you would recommend making a starter and re-pitching to finish fully fermenting? Seems to me that fermentation maybe stalled out a little bit.
I did not make a starter due to the previous comments. Any help/advice is appreciated!
A: add more yeast or a fresh yeast can help to drop the finished gravity down a bit if the finished batch is a bti too sweet for your liking
Q: Does this recipe call for any bottling additives prior to bottling, or what would you recommend?
A: Priming sugar would be needed for bottling but otherwise would note require other additions added. You can add in some fruit flavoring to add that profile to the batch if preferred but otherwise would not be needed
Q: The recipe looks to have 1 oz US Tettnang hop pellets to be used as the bittering hops at the beginning of the boil. The kit I received was shipped with two 1 oz packets of Cascade hop pellets, but the recipe doesn't appear to call for any aroma hops at the end of the boil (just the salt and the coriander). Am I to use these Cascade pellets for anything, or were they included in error? TIA!
A: These were likly shipped in error and can be hled onto and used for another batch or discarded as you see fit
Q: How does this kit account for the sour nature of the style?
A: The beer uses an Acidulated malt treated with Lactic acid that adds that flavor profile to the batch.
Q: Hi. Do I need to make a liquid yeast starter or can I just pitch the Wyeast 1007 German Ale Yeast?
A: A starter is never a bad idea if you have time, but the batch has a low enough gravity that a direct pitch would be fine as well
Q: how long does this beer need to ferment?
A: Primary fermentation is about 7-10 days, and the recipe calls for a 1 week secondary fermentation as well.
Q: Do you plan on restocking this item? If so, when?
A: We are not currently planning on restocking this recipe. However things change, keep checking the website in the future. We appreciate your feedback on this.
