Q: I don't see the PICO false bottom as an option here. Can I but that separately (through you of course) and then assume it will fit? Also for that do I need the ss compression fitting thing to get fluid out of the dead space, or does the PICO come with that? The thing is, if I go with universal, the ss is not listed as an option. If I go on the normal kettle, the ss is an option but the PICO is not.
A: the kettle welds for the universal and 1 weld kettles will be placed the same and would allow the pico false bottom to be added separately to the cart. You would need a compression fitting and short Pico pick up tube from items #73-4107 and 99-2657B for the proper pick up tube addtions
Q: How do I go about requesting the optional port up top so that I can return wort back to the keggle from my other kettle? I don't see the option, but want to know before I go put the purchase through. I see on the other listing that adding ports is $40 but in the other listing it said something about approx $60. Just checking.
A: The cost of a custom 1/2" sanitary weld is $40 in addition to the cost of the kettle. The notation of where the port would be at in relation to the original weld on the front of the kettle would be needed as well and paid prior to any modifications being done. Custom weld work can take 2-4 weeks to complete for planning purposes. Special order requests can be placed over the phone with a call to 2313-277-2739 Ext 1
Q: Sorry one more quick question. Could you let me know which quick disconnect hardware I should buy so I could connect 1/2" silicone hose from this output to the pump? Assuming I have nothing and need the part to go on the keggle and the part to go on the hose. Thx!
A: The transfer kit on item ID 99-6789 should be the parts needed to connect a pump to the ball valve fitting on the outlet of the keg and can be used for recirculation as well
Q: For your converted keg mash tuns, how far from the bottom is the one 1/2" coupling? Just wondering if when i order i should request custom bottom hole instead, or if this one will catch all the wort from under the pico false bottom...
A: The coupling sits at about 2-2.25" from the bottom of the kettle, and are designed and welded to rest above where a Pico false bottom would sit in the kettle. The Pico False bottom would benefit from having a short pick up tube like item #99-2657B would be best to cut down on the dead space under the false bottom
Q: Does the brass ball valve assembly require teflon tape when threading into the welded female port? Thanks.
A: We recommend thread tape on all metal-to-metal threads. This will ensure a tight leak-proof seal. Thanks for the question!
Q: What is the diameter of the top opening and the height from bottom to the opening?
A: The diameter of the top opening is 12" and the height from the bottom of the keggle to the top opening is about 21".
Q: Are the barrels made from aluminum or stainless steel?
A: These are stainless steel kettles.
Q: Are there problems with scorching using gas burners?
A: Not typically. Like any burner though, if you apply an excessive amount of heat, there will be some scorching.
Q: Can you fit the 15.5 gallon keg's with a thermometer?
A: Yes, would be interested in our universal kettle. It has a second fitting welded in, for this purpose.
Q: Do you have a lid for the 15.5 half keg ? and how much is it ?
A: We do not sell a lid for the 15.5 gallon keg.
