This pale, light-bodied golden ale is copyrighted by, brewed in, and named for the German city of Köln. Kölschbier is traditionally given a long, cold aging period like a lager, which makes for a very smooth and clean beer. A small dose of German Hallertau hops cuts the richness of the malt. "Spritzy" is a word often used to describe Kolsch - very refreshing, and a popular lawnmower beer for beer snobs!

Nice representation of the style

Purchased as part of a promo which was too good to pass up. I bottled about half the batch 'at standard'. Then I had previously brewed a mango fusion kolsch (that I enjoyed quite well), and had a good amount of the fruit extract remaining, so I decided to use some more of it with this kit, and rounded out the flavor a bit with a hint of vanilla. My (IPA loving) friend loves the 'standard' version, and I'm loving my tweaked version ... a win-win!
