Q: I got the mother from you and its going but I lost the instructions. I'm thinking it said it will take 6 months, but at the rate it is evaporating, not sure anything will be there. Also, when its ready then what?
A: Once the vinegar is ready, you can siphon the vinegar out of the container away from the mother, and then add in a new wine/cider to the mother culture to restart a new batch. the vinegar can be sampled throughout the process and the user will determine when the acetabater has built up enough tartness for their liking. Some evaporation is to be expected, and a small amount of distilled water, or a small amount of a new wine can be added.
Q: Could you please tell me the size of the mother? The last time I bought some, from a different supplier, I paid a lot for a 1/2 inch square.
A: I can't measure the actual size of the culture inside but this item has 8 ounces of fluid in the container. Thanks!
