Q: I know the regular cork corks are becoming over farmed are there any drawbacks to the synthetic vs cork? Humidity? I'm planning to seal with wax, any issue there that you know of?
A: The pros and cons of synthetic corks is pretty heavily discussed. Nomacork's will not build up "cork rot" responsible for the wet cardboard sort of flavor and aroma that can develop with improper storage. They will last forever, and are not effected by temperature conditions. They do have the draw back of not allowing wine to "breathe" the way a natural cork will. If sealing with wax, you will be closing off the end of the bottle, so either cork would be fine.
