Want to make a Yeast Starter? Home brewers are always led to believe making a yeast starter is for the advanced brewer. This could not be further from the truth. Cinnamon Off Flavors

Made a yeast starter a pitched it into a 5 gallon batch in my 7.5 gallon conical. The high krausen overflowed which made it seem like a promising, hard-working yeast. Tasted after the primary and the batch had cinnamon overtones, hoped it would mellow out in secondary, never did. Tried on another half-batch of the same style just to make sure, same off flavors. Very disappointed.

Bit slow but great quality

Had krausen still on day 10 fermenting at around 65. Move to 70 and finished great in another week. Read slowness isnít unusual for Belgian yeast but good to be aware of if youíre on time crunch.
