Sam Adams Clone Recipe Kit

Sam Adams Boston Lager Clone This is my go to beer and brewing it is even more rewarding. The Mittelfruh hops dominate the flavor profile while light malt character make this an all day drinker. The recipe is very close with a clean ale yeast but if you really want to nail it, go with a lager yeast. Make sure you read up on how to lager!

Close But Not Exact
I fermented a batch with lager yeast for 2 weeks, and then lagered it another 6 weeks. It came out very malty and a little darker than the original Boston Lager, but with no hop flavor. I ordered another packet of the Mittelfruh hops and added that to the keg, which helped. It was still quite a different flavor from the original. I think it tastes much more like Sam Adams Oktoberfest beer, but I would definitely do it again and if you're interested in it, give it a try.

Great house ale
Very pleased with this one. I have not yet done a side-by-side with this and Boston Ale (I made this with Safale-05) but I'm very happy with this one. Very smooth and well-balanced. Went one week primary and one week secondary. This is a beer I recommend to anyone - right in the middle of the stout/IPA spectrum. A real crowd pleaser!

Sam Adams Boston Lager
Just tried first one in front of me. After 2 weeks in bottle, still not fully carbed. Another week no big deal. Taste-wise, it's a little bit off but I can handle it. But the aroma is definitely off big time. Doesn't have the BL aroma at all. It may improve after another week so time will tell.

A true winner!
I've had great luck with most of the AIH kits (the ones that were so-so was likely errors I made), but this is the one I keep coming back to. I've made both extract kits and whole-grain, when I had the time, and they were all excellent. My favorite was the one I did with lager yeast and let "do it's thing" for 3 months or so. Talk about clean and smooth, just tremendous! When I'm in a rush, the ale yeast works good too. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Loved It!
Brewed it as an Ale, was not exact but tasted close and I enjoyed it very much. A few friends even liked it more than the SA Original!

Not quite like sam adams
I brewed this using ale yeast. It didn't turn out like a boston lager at all. Maybe because it was a boston ale. Not as bitter nor did it have a hoppy aroma like a sam adams. But it did turn out as a really great tasting beer.

After ordering and talking with Ian several times I got my first batch finished. After 2 weeks I thought the carbonation was a little weak so Ian told me to wait another week and the manual said to shake the bottles. Now at that time was 3 weeks and the ale was awesome. I sent several out as gifts and everyone is raving about it and wants more. I left myself only one bottle. I'll never do that again.

Very nice kit
This is a very nice beer. Very close to the original. This will be a nice fall back beer for parties for all to enjoy. Not too hoppy yet has a nice flavor for the BMC crowd. I will order again.

He's a brewer and a patriot
Received the package in good order. Currently aging in the bottle, so I can't provide a definitive statement (and don't yet feel comfortable giving five stars), but the sample I took on bottling day tasted great. I used California lager yeast, to try to get as close as possible to real Sam under more "ale-like" condition.
