Q: Is there sugar added and since this is flakes do you have shredded, unsweetened coconut toasted?
A: The product has not has sugar added outside of the natrual sugars in the coconut itself. The product is a flaked/shredded consistancy, is toasted but unsweetened
Q: Is this the same coconut used in your raspberry coconut porter? Asking because the recipe adds it to secondary, but does not recommend heat treating it first.
A: Yes, this is the same coconut used. We recommend this as a boil addition, or using a quick heat pasteurization in the oven if being added during your secondary.
Q: What is the temperature and time for the heat pasteurization method recommended?
A: I usually will give dry goods in the oven a very light heat at 200 for 5-6 minutes. This will limit anything present on the dry goods to cause an infection, but this product would still be best added into the boil to ensure sterilization without over toasting of the product.
Q: Is this considered sterile?
A: We would not consider this a sterile product. We do use sterile bags for packaging but would still reccoemnd this as a boil addition, or using a quick heat pasteurization in the over if being added into secondary fermentation directly
Q: No more toasted coconut? :(
A: Sorry we currently do not have in stock.
Regarding your toasted coconut flakes, I wanted to know if I can purchase 10 pounds and if so, how much?
A: The toasted coconut is prepackaged in 14oz. quantities. If you buy 12 packages at the advertised price, you will have just over 10 pounds.
Q: Can you buy this in most groceries and is it with the regular flaked coconut?
A: We purchase our coconut from a bakery and it is already toasted.
Q: Are these toasted already?
A: They are lightly toasted.
