A: It would. These are very commonly used on rounded size kettles for the purpose of adding a drain port with a valve
Q: can I run diesel fuel through this fitting?
A: WHile the fitting is designed an intedned for modifying brewing kettles for beer, the fittings are 304 stainless and the gasket is rubber so the materials could potentially stand up to use with fuel but would not be guaranteed for this purpose
Q: Where does the wall of the vessel go within this assembly? Between the hex nut and the rubber gasket? Between the gasket and the flat washer?
A: The lock nut, flat washer and then gasket will be on the inside of the kettle and the coupler will rest on the outside to close off the connection
Q: I am converting an antique copper/brass fire extinguisher into a fuel tank for a clients sail boat. Will it seal due to the curvature of the tank thats roughly 8 inch in diameter?
A: The curve may oy may not pose an issue. The gasket compression with the flat washer seals off the connection and the washer may not sit flat on the sidewall of the curve is too narrow.
Q: What material is the O ring constructed of?
I am not using this for food products but would like to research what chemicals it is impervious to.
Also, does this fitting and fitting 73-RLTWFSS1/2 . Use the same O-ring material /size?

Q: Will the rubber o-ring stand up to diesel fuel? I want to use this on a stainless steel diesel storage tank.
A: This is a food grade rubberized o'ring that is sold for use with food grade products. While it should hold up to use with fuel we cannot confirm or deny it would work for this purpose and would be at the risk of the end user
Q: Is the weldless bulkhead fitting designed for use with boiling water? I have a maple syrup evaporator pan that I would like to install this fitting on and would like to know if it will hold up OK? Also, will the "O" ring not break down or release impurities into the boiling sap and syrup?
A: The fitting is designed for use on brew kettles for beer so boiling and high temps would not be an issue. The O'ring is made from a food grade rubber that should not put any off flavors or impurities into the product
Q: Can I attach this with the female coupler inside the kettle for a whirlpool attachment and have enough male thread penetration through the outside of the kettle to attach a 3 piece ball valve without worrying about leaks?
A: You could attached a 2nd female coupling to the inside threat of the bulkhead for a whirlpool arm, but the thread left over after being attached will vary depending on the thickness of the kettle wall.
Q: What is the length of the 1/2" coupling?
A: The length of the 1/2" coupling is 1.25" long.
Q: What about spare o rings? Are they available?
A: We do sell spare o-rings for this assembly, they are Item Number 29-8849 on our website.
Q: what size is the thread on the inside? 1/2" as well?
A: This part is entirely 1/2" NPT, which is National Pipe Thread. 1/2" NPT does not mean that it is 1/2" in diameter, it is a standardized pipe thread size which is common in the brewing industry.
Q: What is the highest temp. will the o-ring withstand ?
A: The o'ring can withstand temperatures between -65° to +450° F.
Q: Will this work on an igloo cooler with your 3 piece ball valve?
A: It may work. We recommend Item Number 63-3415 for that purpose.
