White House Honey Ale Recipe Kit

Hail to the Beer Chief! This isn't the First Lady's honey, but it is local from the Midwest. Released to the public by petition from homebrewers like you, this is our rendition of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave beer. Find common ground over a pint or two with this revival of the early tradition of White House brewing.

Original Gravity : 1.055

Final Gravity : 1.011

Color / SRM : Golden

Alcohol by Volume : 6%

IBU (anticipated, alpha acids can fluctuate) : 30

Specialty Grains : Biscuit, Crystal

Hops : Kent Goldings, Fuggle

It's me, not the beer

The kit was great. Nothing wrong with it or anything that AIH provided. Easy enough to brew. Two weeks in primary, two weeks in secondary. Now four weeks in bottle. The beer turned out fine. It smells crisp and clean. I just didn't care for the taste. The honey gives it a strange taste that I just, personally, don't find appealing. It starts out sweet, but as it lingers on the back of the tongue, it gets a little sour. Kind of like an old Budweiser. Friends said it was drinkable, but not their favorite. I'll drink it while I mow the lawn or something, so it won't go to waste, but compared to some of my other favorite kits, this one ranks towards the bottom.

Love both White House brews
