Great Winter Warmer
A friend of mine bought 2 of these kits, he's just getting into all grain. We brewed 10 gallons on my equipment for him. I've never brewed a "kit" beer before but this is a good one. Chocolate, coffee notes with a slight bite on the back end. I love this beer!

Decent Kit
Only item I have to mention that is a slight negative is the instruction sheet looks like its a 7 generation copy. Thankfully this is not my first time brewing (7 years and counting) but for a newbie it may have been difficult to read. Other than that, great price and cant wait to taste final results!

Delicious
This beer turned out great! Great roast flavor. The chocolate addition sweetens it just before the chipotle spice kicks in. Adjustments I would make for next time: possibly slightly less chipotle. It's pretty spicy, but after 1 or 2 that burn mellows out. Bag the cacao nibs! I plugged the valve on my brew kettle during transfer to chill.

Perfect
This was my second homebrew and it turned out great! Out of hundreds of beers sampled, this is only the third beer that my girlfriend will drink. The spice isn't overpowering and it has a nice smoke flavor. I will be redoing this recipe many times with slight variations to try something new each time. I had it in the primary for 4 weeks, carbed it for 2 weeks, and have had it tapped for a couple weeks so far. It probably won't last long.

The boil time for each would be 60 minutes and the overall process before the batch is complete on both would be about 4-5 weeks form brew to bottle

Fermentaion is about 7-14 days, secondary would be for 1 week prior to bottling, which is another few weeks. Typical time from brew brew to opening bottles is 4-6 weeks depending on your methods

Looks interesting but how are you figuring the abv on this at 6.8% I come up with 6.3% with listed estimated gravities, am i missing something?

The calculation for the gravity used shows an estimated 6.6-6.8% using ABV =(76.08 * (og-fg) / (1.775-og)) * (fg / 0.794)

The bottom of the recipe states to add peanut butter flavoring but the rest of the recipe doesn't mention this, was it a typo or is a part of the recipe? Also, what is the recommended time to ferment or sit if necessary? Thank you!!!

Yes this was a type we missed on a few of the recipe print outs and can be disregarded as this kit DOES NOT contain peanut butter flavoring. The primary fermentation time is typically about 7-10 days, with another 1 week in secondary before bottling or kegging.
