Q: Will I need to purchase another Stir bar & keeper magnet if I have two flasks? I want to make two yeast starters ahead of time and have them ready when needed. I have purchased a second flask. Also, if I need another stir bar what size should I purchase. I'm waiting on delivery of my unit today.

A: It really is just personal preference. We include a bung and airlock because it leaves the least amount of chance for mistakes. Just as many people use tin foil, and there is nothing wrong with that either.

A: This is not a Pyrex flask. It is made of borosiliciate glass which is the same material that makes up a pyrex flask.
Q: Hi - I bought one of your yeast starter equipment kits from the Ann Arbor store. (Kit with the black stir plate and 2000 ml flask.) How durable is the flask? Can it be used to directly heat on a gas stove and then placed directly in cold water to cool? I ask this because the flask does not indicate a brand or type of glass. Thanks
A: This is a borosilicate glass and can withstand direct flame. Once you have boiled, you can add this directly to cold water for cooling- Thank you for your question.
